A Reis is an artist based in Sydney, Australia. She has a particular interest in landscape painting as it enables her to connect with, and express an appreciation of, the natural environment. It also provides a ticket to explore the nearly infinite realm of colour, shape and form offered by the natural environment which has an innate ability to present idiosyncratic scenes.

Working predominantly with acrylic paint on canvas, her art practice is typically spontaneous. She starts each painting with a minimalist backdrop and then uses intuition to build complex layers and create a landscape that is rarely devoid of water, a popular symbol of life. The relationship between each element helps to bring and bind the natural scenery together.

The primary objective of each painting is to encapsulate the essence of a natural landscape whilst drawing attention to the magnificence of its natural monuments and sources of water. It is hoped that viewing each painting feels like sticking your hands under an open tap with tepid water flowing, leaving you with a sense of refreshment and relaxation.
