A Reis is a practising artist based in Sydney, Australia. She has a particular interest in landscape painting as it enables her to connect with, and express an appreciation of, the natural environment. It also provides her with an infinite ticket to explore and discover nature’s innate ability to manifest wonderfully idiosyncratic scenes.

Working predominantly with acrylic paint on canvas, her art practice is typically spontaneous. She starts each painting with a minimalist backdrop and then uses intuition to build complex layers which convey the intricacies of a natural landscape, rarely devoid of a body of water, a popular symbol of life. Each brushstroke within the painting fosters an interplay of colour, shape, line, form, light, space, and texture to ultimately weave one of nature’s distinct tapestries. The relationship between each element helps to bring and bind the natural scenery together.

The primary purpose of each painting is to encapsulate the essence of a diverse natural landscape, whilst drawing attention to the collective magnificence of its environmental constituents. The vision is for each painting to provide the viewer with a unique window of opportunity to contemplate the boundless beauty and profound serenity of our ecological heritage. The intention is to inspire the viewer to recognize and promote the intrinsic value of nature’s vast array of landscapes, which is fundamental to our existence.
